Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 24, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to MetaShield. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a secure experience while navigating the Web3 ecosystem. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension handles information.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or sell any of your personal data.

MetaShield operates entirely locally within your browser. The extension checks the domains you visit against a hardcoded list of verified websites (e.g., metamask.io, opensea.io). This process happens entirely on your machine.

3. Permissions Used

To function correctly, MetaShield requires the following permissions:

  • Host Permission (`<all_urls>`): Required to scan the URLs of the websites you visit and detect potential phishing attempts. The URL data never leaves your browser.
  • Storage / Background Service Workers: Used solely to manage the extension's internal state (e.g., redirecting non-English users based on locale settings upon installation).

4. Third-Party Services

We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party tracking software within the extension.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
